Teacher Identity Statement

As a graduate teacher in Perth, I hold a strong commitment to inquiry-based learning, inclusivity, and problem-solving in the classroom. My approach to education is centered on cultivating an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to learn and grow.

My love for inquiry-based learning stems from the belief that children are natural inquirers, and learning happens best when students are given the opportunity to explore, discover, and make connections on their own. In my classroom, I strive to create a student-centered learning environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. Through inquiry-based learning, I aim to ignite a passion for lifelong learning in my students and foster a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world around them. 

Inclusivity is at the heart of my teaching practice. I believe that every student has the right to an education that respects their individuality and celebrates their differences. I am committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming classroom that recognizes and values diversity. Through a culturally responsive and responsive pedagogy, I aim to create a learning environment that is inclusive of all students, regardless of their background, culture, or identity.

Problem-solving is an essential skill that I strive to cultivate in my students. Through problem-based learning, I aim to equip my students with the skills they need to navigate the challenges of the 21st century. In my classroom, students work collaboratively to identify problems, analyze data, and develop solutions. I believe that by teaching problem-solving skills, I am empowering my students to become active and engaged citizens who can make a positive difference in their communities.

Finally, I have a deep desire to learn alongside my students. As a teacher, I recognize that learning is a lifelong process, and I am committed to continually improving my practice. I believe that teaching is a reciprocal process, and I learn just as much from my students as they learn from me. I am passionate about ongoing professional development and am always seeking new opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills.
